Greg Ruggiero is an acclaimed American jazz guitarist based in New York City, known for his lyrical phrasing, warm tone, and deep reverence for the jazz tradition. Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ruggiero moved to Brooklyn in 2004. Since arriving, he has embedded himself in the city’s vibrant music scene, learning directly from 1950s, 60s, and 70s jazz master. His grandfather was his first musical introduction, while his father exposed him to classic jazz greats like Count Basie and Duke Ellington.

For 14 years Ruggiero has played in pianist Michael Kanan’s widely respected trio. Greg frequently leads his own trio, which features Daniel Duke and Keith Balla. Over his career, he has accompanied some of the best vocalists in the world such as Samara Joy, Lucy Yeghiazaryan, and Stella Cole. He has also played with some of Jazz’s legendary musicians like Ken Peplowski, Frank Morgan, Bill Crow, Warren Vaché, Steve Little, and Murray Wall. He plays nearly every night across New York City and has performed at marquee venues like Carnegie Hall, Mezzrow, Smalls Jazz Club, and Dizzy’s Club.
